I am struck by the complexity and strength of our brains as I sit down to compose this. Imagine neurons firing in complex patterns, creating clusters that eventually come together to produce ideas. These concepts influence our reality and motivate us to invent, develop, and affect the environment. Every concept we have is, in a way, like a digital garden that develops and changes as new relationships are formed.
Think Big, Start Small: The Genesis of My Digital Garden
This motto has always appealed to me: "Think big, Start small".
I identify with this viewpoint since it highlights how crucial it is to take concrete actions in the direction of a big goal. In keeping with that, I started considering how I may use this idea in my own thoughts and notes. As time passed, I came to see that these notes had a lot of potential—if only they were properly arranged and cared for.
I made the decision to turn my scattered notes into a digital garden at that point. a location where concepts can develop, link, and change throughout time. From a personal project, my trip has grown into something I hope will help you and other online users.
From Personal Notes to a Digital Garden
The Power of Interconnected Ideas
Connecting concepts is one of the fundamental tenets of digital gardening. Every note in my garden serves as a node that can connect to other ideas that are connected. I can identify trends, make inferences, and come up with fresh ideas thanks to this network of related knowledge that I might not have otherwise found.
My Note-Taking Ecosystem
I use Obsidian on both my Android phone and laptop to take notes. I can easily integrate my notes across several devices because to Markdown's flexibility:
1. Obsidian: An effective tool for Markdown-formatted local note management that offers robust internal linking and labeling capabilities.
2. Neovim : I use Neovim in conjunction with Obsidian's Markdown support for rapid terminal-based note-taking.
3. I can take brief notes without changing contexts thanks to ULauncher.
4. Firefox Plugin (Obsidian Clipper): I use this plugin to clip and store interesting stuff straight into my Obsidian vault when I'm exploring the web.
I have imported some notes from Notion and ClickUp, two programs I used in the past, onto my current system.
Process: Nurturing and Publishing Ideas
1. Initial Note-Taking All of my notes start on my local computer in a private Obsidian vault.
2. Identifying Potential: I cultivate that note if I observe that particular thoughts are moving toward something important. I post it on the public side of my digital garden at brain.hiya.ro once it is sufficiently grown.
3. Reader Interest and Feedback: I may still have some notes on a particular subject in my own vault. However, I give the promotion and development of that subject a higher priority on my list if I notice that readers—like you—are becoming more interested in it.
4. Continuous improvement : By keeping a dynamic balance between my private thoughts and my publicly expressed ideas, this technique makes sure that both areas gain from reader response and ongoing improvement.
Now Take a Look at my Brain
My digital garden, which I've titled Brain, allows you to explore some of the ideas and thoughts I've been working on. Making my trip public encourages me to interact with people who have similar interests to mine as well as to concentrate on topics that have promise.
Accompany Me on This Adventure
Regardless of how experienced you are with digital gardening, I hope my method and resources encourage you to experiment with other approaches to connecting, capturing, and sharing your thoughts. By working together, we can create a vibrant ecosystem of interrelated ideas that spur creativity and individual development.
